Who I am

Chiara Albertoni paints the plant microcosm in oil on canvas: petals, cobwebs, dandelion seeds, tree bark, carnivorous plants. At first glance they look like photographs; they are paintings.
After a diploma in Applied Arts from the Scuola d’Arte Modigliani in Padua, in 2004 she graduated in Painting from the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice. She lives and works in the province of Vicenza.
Her work belongs to hyperrealism: close, almost photographic framing, and a painted surface in which the brushstroke disappears. Most of the works are in black and white, with occasional incursions of colour that isolate a red or a fuchsia against the dark ground. Her canvases have travelled to Japan, Spain, Belgium, Germany, the United States and Australia.
Among her recognitions: participation in the Premio Cairo (2004), the Talent Prize (2009, finalist with The Handless Maiden) and the Premio Fabbri per l’Arte (2012).
